ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Andy Collins is a member of the Extension Broadband Education and Adoption Team (e-BEAT) that was created as part of a grant from the governor's office to help Mississippi participate in a digital economy by using broadband and information technology to further community and economic development opportunities. e-BEAT's main goals are to increase broadband adoption by Mississippi households and communities, expand the variety of ways in which the internet is being used, and document the benefits of broadband for the audiences being targeted. So far in e-BEAT's Region 2 and 3 (Coastal Research and Extension area), over one hundred digital literacy workshops have been completed on subjects such as Facebook, Email, Twitter, Basic Internet Skills, Job Hunting, etc. Two cities have been brought online with a creation of a completely customizable website, and several more have come online in the social media realm of Facebook.
